All 113 counties and county-level areas

113 current county-level areas: 48 English ceremonial counties, 32 Scottish council areas, 22 Welsh principal areas and 11 Northern Ireland districts. This is a current administrative standard, not the historic county map.

UK counties tracker

How many UK counties have you visited?

The UK does not have one uniform county system, so this tracker uses 113 current county-level areas across all four nations. England has 48 ceremonial counties; Scotland has 32 council areas; Wales has 22 principal areas; and Northern Ireland has 11 local government districts.

Tick a county or area on the map or in the list. The headline number, nation progress and shared link update as you go. A link carries the whole map, so you can share exactly what you have visited without an account.

Why 113?

That is the number you get when you take the current top-level local government geography for each nation and combine it: 48 + 32 + 22 + 11. It covers the whole UK and avoids mixing historic counties in one nation with current council areas in another.

Other UK county maps use 48 English ceremonial counties only, 92 historic counties, or lieutenancy areas. Those are different standards. This one is deliberately current and consistent across England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland.

What counts as a visit?

As with countries, there is no official rule. Count a place when you have set foot in it, or require a longer stay; the important thing is to apply the same rule to every county. Worldtally records what you tick.

Your selections sit after the # in the address bar. Browsers do not send that part to a server, so the link is the save file. Copy link keeps it, New starts an empty map, and this browser remembers your last map locally.
